are we really that egotistical?
the fact that i have to ask is probably not a good sign. a surprisingly insightful editorial appeared in the courier journal today trying to answer this question as a reaction to the recent study that found that generation y (you and me) is a self-obsessed, self-important, and narcissistic generation as compared to past generations. it's worth a read. let me know what you think.

i think it's merely a case of a few ruining it all for the many. As far as I'm concerned, our generation is by far the most diverse, technologically savvy, creative, and inventive in centuries. It's just that instead of focusing on the overwhelming potential of today's youth, our overall culture chooses to instead focus on the herpes-crusted vaginas of the overpriveledged as the flag-bearers of our generation of spoiled slobs. We are no different from the hippies and their "free love," nor the jazz babies, and every other subversive youth culture that has come before us.
The problem is that we've got the power of the media at our fingertips, and very few of us have anything important or intelligent to say, because it wouldn't be cool or funny or entertaining to do so.
Also, dumbfucks keep spawning and feeding their children candy and television and money and calling it parenting.
