free to see the world
What would Jean-Louis Trintignant wear? What would Michael Caine circa 1966 wear? What would Alain Delon wear? I kept those guys in mind when I was looking for some new frames, but I settled on a pair that somewhat in the vein of those guys but also very me. They're Perosl's, so maybe I was actually thinking, what would Steve McQueen wear?

"we've got to start the show in ten minutes!"
photographed by Eric Ray Davidson
I was about two feet away from this circus. Fashion shows are everything you want them to be--surreal, unreal, and gone in a flash. Congratulations to Marcus and David and everybody at the M. Steele HQ for putting on an amazing show that can be described in three words: off the chain.

the rogue
Tom Tykwer's "The International" isn't perfect, but it's Clive Owen does what he does best--he's a total badass. He looks like the guy you can grab a couple of beers with, but can also wield a gun like he was born to kill. And for one contemplative moment of cinematic synergy, can we imagine what Jean-Pierre Melville could have done with Owen's steely reserve?

two eyes
In a serious of unfortunate events, I have managed to break or chip both of my glasses in the past two weeks. And of course I don't have back up contacts. Needless to say I am on the hunt for some frames. Suggestions? If I could look as cool as this...Then I'm okay.

dreams do come true
Funny how a movie I saw ten years ago is still as good, if not better upon a recent second viewing. Thanks to a certain benevolent VHS player owner and some friends that really know how to indulge me on my birthday, I watched "The Last Days of Disco" this weekend. A new birthday tradition, perhaps?

the high priest

Fall/Winter 2009
Doesn't this remind you of "The Matrix" with a little bit of "The Flowers of St. Francis"? An excellent menswear runway debut for Rick Owens.
